When Moz The Monster depressed Buster The Boxer
Brands like John Lewis love to give our heartstrings a jolly old yank at Christmas. But for the rest of the year, they’re just as happy for their advertising to fund racist and sexist newspapers like the Daily Mail.
First to spot this was a group called Stop Funding Hate, who came to us with a challenge: how can we encourage people to put pressure on these brands, so they pull their advertising from hate-filled newspapers?
We decided to play John Lewis at their own adorable game. The day they launched Moz The Monster, Stop Funding Hate responded with a film starring Buster The Boxer. And boy was he depressed by his former employer’s double standard.
The film was seen by over 600,000 people without any media budget, the campaign appeared on Newsnight and Paperchase pulled their Daily Mail advertising.
